Crotalocephalina was a genus belonging to a large group of trilobites, most of which were predators. Their very highly developed compound eyes had unusually large lenses, which are visible to the naked eye. This gave them sharper vision than most arthropods — an advantage both in hunting their food and when they were themselves threatened by larger predators.
