Pulmonoscorpius, the largest scorpion that has ever lived, may have been the Carboniferous period’s biggest predator. To date, its fossils have been found only in Scotland.

Like today’s scorpions, Pulmonoscorpius may have caught its prey with its claws and stung it to death with venom from the spiny tip of its tail. Pulmonoscorpius mainly hunted other arthropods, but its diet may also have included amphibians and reptiles.
