Tyrannosaurus rex was a very large bipedal carnivore with teeth that could rip meat apart and crunch through bone.
Throughout life the teeth, up to 20 centimetres long, were replaced as they wore down, just like those of today’s crocodiles. For a meat-eater, the body was fairly heavy and unwieldy, and many palaeontologists think this species lived mainly by scavenging.
Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the very last dinosaurs.
