Parapuzosia

This specimen belongs to a genus with the very largest ammonite species. Some of them could be up to two metres wide; so this specimen is quite small.

The fossil is a cast of the inside of a shell. One can see the differences between the smooth living chamber for the ammonite’s soft parts, and the ornamented inner portion of the shell which was divided into many chambers.
