Arctinurus was a large, predatory trilobite. On the shell (carapace), traces of algae and bryozoans that were attached to it are often found. By hitching a ride on its back, these may have given Arctinurus good camouflage when the trilobite hunted its prey among the reef corals. The very same method is used by many crabs to this day.
