Bumastus was a large trilobite with a round, smooth carapace (shell).
The eyes were big, and Bumastus is thought often to have buried itself so that only its head and eyes showed up above the sea floor.
It is not known for sure whether Bumastus was a predator or mainly fed on microorganisms and organic material in the bottom sediment.
