Gerrothorax

This fossilized specimen of Gerrothorax was buried and preserved in lake sediment containing much organic matter.

Gerrothorax means ”basket-woven rib cage”; seen here are the closely positioned ribs and the numerous scales that covered and protected the body. One of the legs is also preserved.
